Safety Tips
Meeting new people should be fun. A few habits make it a lot safer. If you're ever in danger, call 911.

In an emergency
If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 911. Radar isn't an emergency service and can't send help. Once you're safe, report what happened to us.
Our part and yours
- Every member confirms a US mobile number before they can use Radar, and everyone must be 18 or older.
- Nobody can message you out of the blue. A chat only opens once you accept a hello or a request to join a plan.
- On Radar, people see a rough distance, never your exact location, and Radar turns off by itself when your time is up.
- You can block anyone at any time. Blocked people can't see you, find you on Radar, or contact you.
- Our team reviews reports and removes people who break our Community Guidelines.
We don't run criminal background checks, and a verified badge doesn't mean someone is safe. Treat everyone you haven't met as a stranger, because they are.
Before you meet
- Chat in the app first. Keep conversations in Radar until you've met. That way our tools and reports can help if something goes wrong.
- Look for red flags: stories that don't add up, pushing to move off the app fast, refusing to meet in public, asking for money, or getting angry at a no.
- Tell a friend who you're meeting, where and when, and share your location with them on your phone. Check in with them during and after.
- Plan your own way there and back. Drive yourself, take a rideshare or transit. Don't accept a ride from someone you just met, and don't let them pick you up at home.
- Keep your phone charged and have a backup way to get home.
When you meet
- Stay in public. Pick busy places like cafes, bars, parks or event venues. Don't go to someone's home or invite them to yours until you know them well.
- Watch your drink and know your limits. Never leave it unattended, and don't accept a drink you didn't see poured.
- Keep your belongings with you.
- Trust your gut. You can leave at any time, for any reason, without explaining. Ask venue staff for help if you feel unsafe.
On Radar
- Go live only when you're somewhere you're comfortable being approached. Avoid going live at home, work or anywhere you don't want people to know you spend time.
- Choose "chat first" if you'd rather talk in the app before anyone walks up to you.
- End your Radar session any time in the app. It also ends by itself when your time is up.
- If someone approaches you in a way you didn't agree to, walk away, block them and report it.
At plans and events
- Group plans are a great first meeting. Arrive on time and leave whenever you like.
- Hosts: pick a public spot and only share extra details with people you've accepted.
- Partner venues and organizers run their own events. Follow their rules, and tell their staff about any problem at the venue.
Protect yourself online
- Never send money, gift cards, crypto or financial information to anyone you met on Radar, whatever the story. Report anyone who asks.
- Keep your last name, address, workplace and daily routine to yourself until you know someone well.
- Be careful with links and with photos that could reveal where you live.
- Radar staff will never ask for your sign-in code. Don't share it with anyone.
Report and block
Tap Report on any profile, chat or message, or email support@onradarsocial.com. Tell us what happened, even if it happened in person or on another app. Block anyone you don't want to hear from again; they won't be told. Urgent reports, like threats or someone underage, are reviewed first.
